Arc gis Part 1

الهدف من الدرس هو التعرف علي البرنامج بشكل عام وواجهة البرنامج ومعرفة الفرق بين البيانات "data" وبين "project"  وبين عرض البيانات "dataview"

والتعرف ايضا علي بعض ادوات البرنامج كالتكبير والتصغير من خلال استخدام آداة الـــ Zoom 
وبالاضافة لكيفية التعامل مع الطبقات ومعرفة ما هو مفهوم الــــ "shapefile"




Goal: In this exercise you will become familiar with the following concepts: Projects, Views, Table of Contents, and Layers.
At the end of this exercise you should be able to:
  • Create a new project
  • Add one or more themes to a view
  • Understand how to use the pull-down menus and buttons related to this exercise
  • Make a theme active or inactive
  • Use the Zoom In, Pan, and Zoom to Selected buttons
Step 1. When ArcMAP opens you will see the ArcMap dialog box appear, Click on OK to start using ArcMap with a new empty map.

Step 2. Click the "Add Data" button

Step 3. The Add Data dialog box displays.

Navigate to c:\DATA\countbnd.shp. This may be in a different location, or wherever your downloaded data is saved.

 ملحوظة مش لازم تكون الـــ بيانات عندك موجوده في نفس اللينك ده بس انت حتلاقيها في 
D:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Bin\TemplateData
Step 4. Double-click on "countbnd.shp" to add the layer to the Table of Contents, or you can highlight the "countbnd.shp" then click on the "Add" button. The layer and its symbol appear in the Table of Contents.

Step 5. In ArcGIS you can add layers several ways. From the File pull-down menu, select Add Data or use the Add Data Button. baddtheme.jpg (5538 bytes) Navigate to where data is stored and select "Centre.shp" to add to your Table of Contents.

Note: If your "Countbnd.shp" file was the first layer in the table of contents, you would not be able to see the layer underneath, which in this case is the streams for Centre County. Practice moving the shape files by pulling each of the shape files to the top by holding it with the left mouse button and dragging it to the top

ملحوظة خلي بالك وانت بترتب الـــ shapefiles لازم تحط الظواهر النقطية فوق يليها الظواهر الخطية يليها الظواهر اللي علي شكل مضلعات

Step 6. Use the Zoom In tool tzoomin.jpg (5673 bytes) to zoom to an area of interest in the View window.   This can be done by holding down the left-mouse button,drawing a box, then letting go of the left-mouse button to enlarge the view. Another way to zoom in is to simply click the left-mouse button until you are zoomed in to a desirable location.
Step 7.  Use the Pan tool tpan.jpg (5583 bytes) to move around in the view.  In the View window click the Left mouse button, then move the map and release the mouse button.

Step 8. Make "Centre.shp " active by clicking on the title in the table of contents. Notice that when a layer is active, the "Centre.shp" title will appear highlighted. Now that you have the "Centre.shp" active, Right Click and scroll down to Zoom To Layer. bzoomfullact.jpg (5727 bytes). Click on this bar and your project will zoom to that layer.

Step 9.  Click on the Zoom to Full Extent button bzoomfullact.jpg (5727 bytes).This will bring you back to the full extent of your shapefiles in the view.
Step 10.  Close ArcGIS or continue with the next exercise
