Arc gis Part 3

Goal: In this exercise you will become familiar with the following concepts: Graphical User Interface (GUI), tools and buttons, themes, and tables
Based on your work in Exercise 1, you should be able to open projects, add themes, move windows, and display themes. At the end of this exercise you will know how to:

  • Add a theme and make it active
  • Open a theme table
  • Navigate through a table
  • Make a window active by clicking on its title bar
  • Select items in a view
  • Promote records in a table
  • Use the Identify Results tool
    الهدف من هذا التمرين هو التعرف بشكل اكبر علي كيفية التعامل مع جداول البيانات
Step 1. If necessary, start ArcGIS. Add the "Countbnd.shp"to the View

نفتح البرنامج ونضيف الـــ ShapeFiles

Step 2.If not already active, Click on the "Countbnd.shp"name or its legend symbol in the Table of Contents to make it active. The theme appears highlighted in the Table of Contents

Step 3.  Right Click the Countbnd.shp layer in the Table of Contents and scroll down to Open Attribute Table .

A table window opens containing the "Attributes of the Countbnd.shp". table.

The table has a number of fields, such as, Shape, Area, Perimeter, etc..  The Shapefield tells you the type of feature (e.g., point, line, polygon) the theme represents.

R.Click >>>>  Open Attribute Table

Step 4.  Using the scroll bar at the bottom of the table, scroll to the right. Look at the information that is stored in the other fields

Step 5. It is now helpful to put the View and the Table side by side. Make View1active by clicking on its title bar. Move it to the left side of the ArcGIS window, then resize it so it fills the left half of the window. Make the "Attributes of Countbnd.shp" table active by clicking on its title bar. Move it to the right side of the ArcGIS window, then resize it so it fills the right portion of the window. The title bar will not appear grayed out.

Step 6.  Using the scroll bar at the bottom of the table, scroll to the right until you see the the field County.

Step 7. Click on the Select Feature tool tselfeature.jpg (5501 bytes), then Click on a county. The county highlights in the view and the corresponding record highlights in the table
لمعرفة البيانات الخاصة بأي عنصر من العناصر الموجودة علي الرسم نختار الايقونة الموضحة ومن خلالها نضغط علي العنصر المراد معرفة بياناته 
وعند فتح جدول البيانات نجد انه يكون محدد عليه بلون مميز.

Step 8.  Hold down the Shift key, then Click on several counties. ArcGIS selects and highlights the counties in their view and their corresponding records in the table
ولعمل تحديد لأكثر من عنصر نقوم بالضغط علي زر Shift.

Note: The table is too large, therefore, you are unable to see all of the highlighted records.
Step 9. In order to see all of the selected records, make the table active by Clicking on the title bar. Click on the selected tab at the bottom of the table. The bpromote.jpg (5574 bytes) tab will remove any unselected attributes and only leave selected attributes behind.
Step 10. Make the view1 active and Click on the Select tool tselfeature.jpg (5501 bytes). Click the left-mouse button and drag a box around the counties you would like to select, release the button. You can also select a number of counties by holding down the shift keyand clicking on each county.
Step 11. Try this for a group of counties. After you have selected the counties, make the "Attributes of Countbnd.shp" table window active by clicking on its title bar. Then Click the Selected tab bpromote.jpg (5574 bytes) at the bottom of the table. The selected records are the only records to appear.

Step 12. Use the Clear Selected Features button bclearselfeat.jpg  (5433 bytes) to clear the selected records. Use the Select tool select.jpg (5539 bytes) in the table GUI and select several records in the table. The corresponding records will be highlighted in the view

Step 13. A quick way to get infomation about a particular county is to use the Identify Results Tool. Make the View1 active and Click on the Identify tool tidentify.jpg (5599 bytes) and select a county in the View. The identify results box will appear
وهي تستخدم للمساعة في عرض البيانات عن اي عنصر بمفرده.

Note: The left side of the Identify Results dialog box lists the feature you identified and the right side lists its attributes. These are the same attributes that are stored in the theme's attribute table.
Step 14. Scroll down the list of attributes to see the information for each of the counties.
Step 15.  Click on a few more counties. Each one is added to the Identify Results dialog box.
